My little collection of air plants is still thriving. Surprisingly, recovering and slow growing from a lack of water. Rain water really brought up to speed. Do be mindful of how long a soak bath that was my main cause for root rot. I tend to soak for 30 minutes in lukewarm water, take them out/good hard shake then turn on side or upside down on a paper towel and dry for 2 hours before returning to container. They seem to do well in bright indirect light with some shade. Again, I tend to rotate placement so they don’t burn in the Texas sun. I have an east facing window with some shade thanks to two very old oak trees. HOT TIP: Even though these plants do tend to brown easily if neglected for too long(think 3 - 6 months), that doesn’t always mean their dead. Air plants are known to go dormant when there’s a lack of moisture for long periods of time. But will bounce right back after a good, controlled douse.

Very easy to care for because they absorb moisture from the air. This means you only need to water sparingly and if you forget to for a while, it’s okay!
I do recommend that when buying a sky or air plant to make sure if it comes in a cute container/decorative pot or even wood that it isn’t glued in or stuck to anything. The first air plant I ever got was glued into a piece of wood to make it look like it was growing out if it. This causes the roots to not be able to get water/ be able to grow. My air plant now is placed in a seashell and can easily be removed for soaking in some water
