I’ve had my plant for nearly two years now and nearly killed it about a year ago because I wasn’t thinking straight. I replanted it into a pot that I had painted inside and out, without realising that the paint would deep into the soil and kill the plant. Which it nearly did. My plant turned completely brown, lost all its leaves and dried out. I was convinced it was dead but with continued watering, it actually came back to life and once I repotted it into a pot that wasn’t trying to kill it, it started growing well again. My parlour palm does NOT like too much direct sunlight (it gets about 3 hours of direct sunlight every day with where I positioned it) and it likes a lot of water. If I don’t water it every 4-6 days, it starts looking wilted. Anyway, I don’t think my plant’s the norm but it sure is resilient.

I do not recommend this plant for beginners, it is a very fussy plant and it is difficult to keep it alive. If you decide to buy this plant, get a more mature one as it will be much easier to salvage than the smaller versions of this. It browns easily and fungus gnats love this plant.

This plant used to sit in our basement with no sunlight and barely watered and last very long, it’s does brown easily without proper care but with proper care it grows very big and green. Requires a big pot and it’s a very good indoor plant.

I really want to love this plant but it gets crispy so quickly. I live in a dry state, so the leaves dry up pretty fast. It’s in a bright room and does not get direct light. I had one of these before and the same thing happened. This time, I’m cutting off the dead, crispy leaves, but I fear it’s going to just be a pot of stems soon. Perhaps I’ll try taking it into the bathroom when I shower so it can get humidity. I’m not a fan of high maintenance plants, and this is my most high maintenance plant out of 30. I’ll post updates when I up the humidity.
