Thrives when there is plenty of humidity (around 60%) - I use a pebble tray to help regulate the humidity. I only had it for a couple of months but it’s going strong, only a few small leaves at the base have got brown tips. Pretty good plant overall

The way the leaves move with the day is cool. I’ve read these are temperamental but I haven’t had any issues whatsoever. I keep it in my sunroom which gets daylight all day, I let it dry out between waterings and it’s been growing new leaves for a year. I didn’t rotate it at first (I was completely new to houseplants) so it grew a bit unevenly but it’s filling in and getting bushier.

Wow this gal is finicky. Nothing I was doing was making her happy, and her leaves were browning constantly UNTIL I put her in my bathroom. My husband takes super hot showers and once in awhile I’ll put her in there for a sauna with him 😂 Now she’s growing quickly and she’s thrilled. Humidity is key with this one!

The peacock Calathea is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The foliage is stunning and ties together any room. When considering a calathea please research their humidity needs. Mine live in the bathroom because my home is not humid enough for these beauties. But my bathroom now has the most beautiful plants to pull it together.
