Help! I think I have a fungus and need to know the best ways to get rid of it. White fuzzy lumps that are not root nodes, clumped up the stem. This also seems to be attacking the base, as some stems seem to be rotting off the roots and falling off.

I am new to plants and unfortunately my six little ones did not state what they are Just want to make sure Mama Cass was properly identified so I can correctly care for her.
