My bamboo plant is slowly dying. What should I do to save...
7ft to light, indirect
5β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Hi, Iβm Marie. You need to strip off the dead leaves. Some people cut them off, I stip them in a downward motion. That way I always hey. The whole dead leaf. Off the plant. I would consider a little bit larger pot with fresh soil and rocks. I wash out my roots so they had a better chance of they can be be brought for a plant that required little attention. I call it old age grumpy plant. I lost all but one stock due to not watering it enough and then turning around and over watering it to the point of ro. Check and see if the base of the stocks are mushy and if there is a rotten smell to them. If any are, separate and remove. Now one told me to spray the roofs with a peroxide solution but unfortunately I canβt remember the measurements. It did work tho and also on another plant too. Make sure your new dish is super clean and fresh soil. Good luck to you. I hope I was a help in this.
Hi Julia, I see that your plant cart says no drainage? That can be tricky if you donβt have a water meter to tell you how dry the soil way below is and if youβre watering too frequently. Bamboos have rhizomes or root structures that are great at retaining water aka you donβt need to water frequently. I would definitely carefully remove to check the roots for rot. The peroxide treatment can be good for rot (usually 1 part peroxide 4 parts water but Iβve used a 1:1 ratio before) but you have to remove all the rotten roots first and change the soil and place in a draining pot. Right now I donβt see that you need a bigger pot since I canβt see the roots. Only repot if root bound because you may repot and end up with rot because itβs too much soil for the roots to suck up water from. Of course donβt forget to check for pests! Especially on the underside of those leaves. Wishing you success in your healthy plant journey! π
