If it’s a pest or fungus or anything else that you can’t see but know something wrong there are a couple different choices.

1. Watch closely and wait (by the way mealybug will leaves damage on the leaves but they are usually spotted on the stems of plants so you will need to look there.)

2. Treat preventatively if you suspect something here are good choices.

A) Insecticidal soap will treat most bugs and some fungal issues.

B). Neem oil will treat both as well

C) Diluted peroxide 1 part peroxide mixed with 8 parts water mist plant down and treat soil as well is case there are trespassers there as well.
This is also effective for both bugs and also fungus.

If it was my plant and I suspected damage from bugs or fungus I personally would treat it with the diluted peroxide it is cheap yet effective.

*just note if it is a garden pest you will need to treat the plant once a week for three weeks that will effectively treat a bugs whole life cycle.
To me this looks like mealy bug residue but I could be wrong. Could you do an inspection of the rest of the plant? Does any of it look damaged? Do you see any insects in the soil or surroundings?
I can't see any insects, but what could be a preventing action in this case?
I also forgot to add this sorry isolate your plant from any other plants nearby otherwise your problems will become waay worse and much more work.
Thank you so much Shannon
@SuperbRaspfern I would check for pests, also I would look up ur fiddle leaf to see if it’s susceptible to a particular pest. I know my plants & their frenemies & always am on the lookout for them. Good Luck! Meantime, dead-head any brown or dead leaves, etc so the dead, sick portions of the plant aren’t stealing nutrients from the healthy parts that need ur attention more and can actually benefit from ur care
If not bugs, salty spots might be from type of water you’re using. Some plants sweat it out if using hard tap water
@SuperbRaspfern u rock Shannon heretofore known as β€œThe Plant Whisperer”!!!!
@VerifiedChia74 and be sure to allow tap water (if that’s what u r using) to sit at least 15 min to allow for chlorine to dissipate. I use a Brita (no affiliation) so I can keep track of water used as well. BE SURE TO REPLACE FILTER WHEN LIGHT TURNS RED!! Thanks to my grandson and his formula days for the Brita!!! Just sayin’
