Why is my dog fennel turning brown?
Just got this dog fennel from a friend. It was super green and healthy when I got it and now… it is not happy. It is outside on my deck with direct light in the morning and shade in the afternoon. What should I do?
0ft to light, direct
9” pot without drainage

Hi! Welcome to Greg!
Wow! It's not a great photo, but based ON the photo, it looks like it got some kind of blight, was a victim of severe drought, or had some pest really bad. Hopefully you aren't too late. I would say your only hope is to propagate.

And here is a descriptive post for caring for dog leaf fennel: https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/eupatorium-capillifolium/#:~:text=Dogfennel%20grows%20rapidly%20in%20moist,Plants%20have%20good%20drought%20tolerance.
I also noticed it is in a metal bucket/pot, and the plant card says it has no drainage. If that is true, you may have overwatered and caused root rot (killed 98% of the plant). Again, these thoughts are based on the photo which makes it look like 98% of the plant is dead. Almost all plants require drainage. Even if they do like to have a moist soil, most do not want WET feet. Good luck with propagating! It looks fairly easy to do. And if you follow the care instructions for your cuttings after they've grown roots and been potted, I'm sure you can have it back to its former glory in a matter of months 😊
