Pruning advice
Hello everyone.
Iβm slowly learning about plant care and could use some advice on pruning my Dracaena. Iβve had this plant for 4 years now (it was 5 years old when i got it), and itβs become quite tall and leggy. I realize Iβm a quite late in pruning, but better late than never! I have few questions which youtube and google results didnβt help me much. I appreciate if you can share your knowledge and experience.
Here are my main questions:
1. Propagation: Iβm considering pruning from the top (you can see in the photos above), but the stems are quite thick. Has anyone successfully propagated mature Dracaena stems of this size? Will these thicker stems root well, or should I approach it differently?
2. New Growth on Woody Stems: The lower part of the main stem has turned brown and woody over time. If I prune the top, is there a chance for new leaves to sprout from this older, woody section? Or is this part past the point of producing new growth?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide! #dracaena

Here are my original plant and the 2 cuttings I have taken from it after it was hunched over at the ceiling. All I did was to cut them off and stick them into soil directly! These are slow growers but very easy to propagate in that manner. @LegitLuckycoin
Answer to Q1: Yes. you can cut off the top of a dracaena plant and just stick it in soil and have it grow. This is called a top cutting and an easy way to manage the size of your plant along with propagating a new plant. Or place it in a clear vase with just water and see her grow roots.
For Q2: yes, new growth will emerge just below from where you made your cut. It may just take a bit of time.ππΌ
