Why is my Silver dragon not growing?
(Apologies, she’s my 1st alo so I’m not familiar with them)
3 ish weeks ago, I got her in the mail and she had a new shoot that unfortunately shrivelled up. She also had one of her leaves completely dry and drop . Didn’t even repot her yet.
It’s mid summer here in Sydney but the week she arrived we had a drop in temp (lowest temp reached 64.4 degrees Fahrenheit) with constant rain so humidity was actually okay. It’s since warmed up and my room temp has been stable at 78deg Fahrenheit with 65-70% humidity. Is she just really slowly acclimating? Did she go into a temp dormancy?
The other plants in the same shipment are on their next set of new leaves already 🥲Please share your thoughts!

4ft to light, indirect

4” pot with drainage

Last watered 3 months ago

Hi! Alocasias famously have an adjustment period when they move into a new home—not always, but enough that they have a reputation! As long as it has good drainage, a light, chunky soil mix (you may want to take this opportunity to repot and check the roots while you do), bright indirect light, stable temps and enough humidity, then it will come around and start giving you leaves! Sometimes they can take several weeks to acclimate to new surroundings. Hope this helps 💚🌿
Even if they *do* die (which don’t worry, I’m sure yours won’t! Just making a fun point here 🤣), they will COME BACK! I accidentally killed my first alocasia because I had no idea what I was doing then. I didn’t have the heart to throw the rootless, leafless bulb away, so I buried it in a pothos and forgot about it. About 6 months later, it came back! And now look! He’s working on his second leaf! So if you ever do lose one, as long as it’s not rotted, it will resurrect 😇🌿 @Valfalfa @Prentyce
