Sad?

Need some opinions! New to owning a lithops, I’m guessing this guy is fine and maybe a little over watered… I honestly can’t tell, and I’m having a hard time! I’ve been reading up on them quite a bit, but I can’t tell if this one is wrinkly because it needs water or has had too much! I want to say it’s had to much and not water it anymore, but when I touched it last it was soft to the touch. Help! What do you think? #Lithops

If it's mushy, I'm afraid it's already dead. If it's like, slightly gummy, it's just a little too damp and will appreciate all the indirect sun you can get it. Succulents are weird in that when they get too much water, the cells can't hold it all and start breaking down. So, whereas your usual shrub will display this behavior when thirsty, succulents are the exact opposite. You can tell if they need water when they start to sunburn or drastically change color. Hope yours makes it! @DreamMachine thanks for the mention, I killed one last year in this exact situation and hope it's not too late for them 🤞🤞
@GreenThumbBabe I am literally the worst person to be giving lithops advice, as I had one once, watered it once, and it promptly left for the great green jungle in the sky 😆sooo @CactusAdjacent ? Any thoughts here?
@GreenThumbBabe @CactusAdjacent dang it, see thats a prime example. My lithops did not depart for a green jungle, it left for the great arid dry grasslands in the sky 😂
@CactusAdjacent I’m going to let it sit in the window and hope for the best! I really hope I didn’t kill this little baby. 🥺
@CactusAdjacent Quick update! He don’t feel squishy anymore, so I think all is well!! I’m going to get him a grow light though because the window he is in, is not the best.
@GreenThumbBabe Yay!! Little guy should do fine, but be careful to not do TOO much light just yet. It's kind of like recovering from an illness as a human, you need food but too much is just gonna make you 🤮 so I'd let it get filled out again in the normal spot, then introduce more light. I'm so happy it didn't melt! 🫠
@GreenThumbBabe yay!! Wow, so glad to hear. I was afraid he might have been a goner already so great job helping him recuperate 🙌🏼 🥳
