I ordered this guy on Etsy (probably won’t take the chance again) and he showed up like this with a chunk missing. Is there anything wrong with it? It’s pretty sad looking.

Hmm. Doesn't look like trauma (for example a chunk breaking off while being packaged or during shipping). Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with this type of cactus to say it looks like one thing or another, but I'd definitely reach out to the Etsy seller and send them pics of the damage.

Yeah it looks like old damage to me that’s scarred over. Also be careful that it goes into a pot which does have drainage.
