They primarily turn yellow due to a deficiency in nitrogen and micronutrients.
Great news, everybody! I figured it out. I was also leaning towards a deficiency in nitrogen due to the chlorotic yellowing (and it lost a leaf or two). SO I was going to fertilize, but then figured out that there was actually water sitting in the bottom of the ceramic pot, which caused the soil at the bottom to be wet, keeping the plant from soaking up nutrients! So it WAS a nutrient problem, but actually caused by water and not a lack of availability of nutrients. Hope this helps another anxious plant parent! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
