How do I get it to grow new leaves I propogated a leaf ...

1ft to light, direct

6β pot without drainage

Last watered 8 months ago
@CuddlyHoya hello Dianaβπ» welcome to Greg!! I noticed your plant card information states Coco is in a container without drainage. I highly recommend changing out this with drainage holes and a saucer plate and bottom water. It helps with plants not standing, so to speak, in water. And allows the roots to breathe. Too much water will cause root rot and pests in time. I feel this may help your plant with growth.. keep us posted on progress thatβs how we all learn on this app. From others trial and error.. ππ»π join other hashtags groups to learn and follow!! #GregGang #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy you got this.. ππ»π
Hi, Diana! Patience is the key.
Also, there will be SO MUCH going on under the soil that you can't see. I have recently propagated a few Rex leaves and it's been theee weeks and I've JUST seen teeny tiny roots growing yesterday. If I was moving any faster, I would have missed them!
First, you'll get fine roots growing under the soil. Then they'll get a little thicker and a small plant will begin to form near the roots.
Over time, that tiny plant will begin to push through the soil which will take a WHILE. It can be a long way to travel for a new plant.
A really good sign is that your leaf still looks good! My Rex leaves have began to die, but I'm still picking my patience because I know there's growth growin' on.
I'm glad you found Greg!

They can take a little while to get going. I had one leaf on my Gryphon Begonia that was from a cutting for ages. When the new growth finally sprouted up through the soil it took off. Key is to not let soil get totally dry but you donβt want it too wet either. Let it dry out some between watering, and begonias need BRIGHT indirect light. At least mine do. I know they donβt want direct sun, but the more light they get the faster they grow.
@sarahsalith thank you so much, sarah! I appreciate your response. I was worried I was doing something wrong. π
