Propagation Method?
Despite my #rookieplantmom mishaps…Pepita is growing and flourishing y’all! She is my plant baby that has done the best thus far. I’m so proud. 🥹 💚
I’m going to take a stab at propagating">#propagating her and reintroducing the offsets into the pot. I’ve seen a couple of methods (water…soil…butterfly…) and am curious 🧐 about what has worked for others. What say ye?
(Note: That’s not a grow light and I do not use one. I just had to highlight her splendor & glory with my desk lamp 😆.)

So I can’t take the credit for this set up. I purchased the cutting from a small local plant shop. This is how she set it up for me after I bought the cutting. She put perlite in a small plastic cup. Put the cutting on top added a little bit of water and then added a 2nd cup on top and tape them together For travel. There are a couple holes in the top cup so it can breathe a little bit, but it still holds a bit of humidity in the cup. I open it from time to time and just spray it with some water so that it doesn’t dry out. Now that it has rooted into the perlite from several of the nodes I’m not sure what to do next. I’m considering either repotting it or cutting some of the sections in between the nodes in order to promote new growth from each node that is rooted. I’m also considering doing nothing because it seems so happy in the set up and I have heard so many people complain about string of turtles and string of pearls trying to keep them alive, and this plant is quite similar to the string of turtles. What do you think I should do?
@nellz4estfairyz Awesome. Thanks!!!
@nellz4estfairyz I’m torn because it does look so happy. Maybe you should just transplant it from its cup condo into a pot?
I think I’m going to give this option a shot. It seems a little more rookie plant mom friendly 😆.

@SassySnapdragon it’s like a little private prop box.
@nellz4estfairyz Update: I tried both soil and perlite propagation. I did not fare well with the perlite cutting, but the soil cutting did great! Next time I may need to have more water and/or less perlite. 🧐
@SassySnapdragon interesting. I have never tried the soil method for this plant. I’m still afraid to move mine! lol 😆
