@AlertWhitecedar Check your soil to decide about watering. I like to use a moisture meter but you can just use your finger too. Overwatering is the bigger risk. If your pot doesn’t have drainage, you’ll want to move it to a pot that does. Then let it dry out completely before watering again. My Never Never only needs water every two weeks or so during the winter. They are beautiful plants! πŸͺ΄
@AlertWhitecedar Welcome to the Greg community! A Never Never Plant, also known as Ctenanthe, is a tropical, evergreen, flowering plant that belongs to the Marantaceae family. They are native to Central and South America and are often grown as houseplants. Ctenanthe have long, oval leaves with unique patterns, such as stripes, teardrops, or herringbone patterns. The leaves can be dark or light green, yellow, silver, or have a purple or red underside. Ctenanthe produce clusters of tubular white flowers that can appear year-round. Ctenanthe grow from rhizomes, which means they spread underground and produce new plants. Ctenanthe are also known as Prayer Plants because their leaves fold up at night and unfold in the morning. This phenomenon is called nyctinasty. Here’s a little more about care: Ctenanthe are frost tender and require a minimum temperature of 55Β°F (13Β°C).
They prefer bright, indirect light, but can tolerate some shade.
Allow the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
Fertilize occasionally with a balanced plant food.
Repot every 2-3 years or when the roots grow out of the drainage holes.
Use a neem oil solution to prevent pests like spider mites and mealybugs. Happy Growing!
