Im not sure how to care for this plant #orchidlovers #pla...

Hey, I just bought this beautiful plant today. On the label it's said that its Orchid Cambria 'Nelly Isler but can't find much about her on the app.
I would appreciate the help!
4โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
As always apparently miss orchid girl is the best answer for everything orchid : https://youtu.be/RLlJ2aqesbU?si=trtDXNi_BZri5tpi

I have not watched this specific video myself, but her content is usually top-notch, so I do not think you can go wrong with this guide.
Thank you a lot! ๐Ÿ’–
Hello Li โ˜บ๏ธ Congratulations on your gorgeous new baby! ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿฅณ โ€˜Nelly Islerโ€™ orchid varieties thrive in bright indirect light which makes them ideal as indoor plants since they donโ€™t tolerate direct sunlight. They require consistent moisture but are quite intolerant of too much of it; a thorough misting of Michelleโ€™s top soil until a small run off of water appears from the drainage beneath her pot is the ideal amount and sheโ€™d do best with a frequency of once weekly in the warmer months and once fortnightly in the cooler months or whenever the first two inches of her soil feels only marginally moist, whichever occurs first. Her optimal temperature range is between an absolute minimum of 59 degrees fahrenheit / 15 degrees celsius and an absolute maximum of 77 degrees fahrenheit / 25 degrees celsius, so ensuring she isnโ€™t positioned too close to an air conditioning system is paramount. If youโ€™re looking to repot Michelle at any point sheโ€™ll thrive in coarse soil which you can buy premixed if youโ€™d prefer or otherwise create your own using one part organic untreated bark, one part peat or sphagnum moss, one part small pebbles or rocks and one part compost to every two parts regular potting soil. Since orchids in general but particularly โ€˜Nelly Islerโ€™ varieties are more sensitive to dramatic environmental changes than other plants due to their delicate root systems, Michelle may experience some wilting during this period as she acclimates to her new pot, however this should last no longer than two weeks before sheโ€™s made a full recovery with plenty of care and moisture. โ€˜Nelly Islerโ€™ varieties also enjoy slightly higher humidity levels than other orchids, so Michelle would benefit from regular light mistings in accordance with her regular watering schedule (every 3 - 4 days during the warmer months and every 6 - 8 days during the cooler months). I really hope this helps and best of luck with lovely little Michelle ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒฟ

Susann, Miss Orchid Girl ๐Ÿ‘ง Yay! LOL ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜น
@Seymour What can I say, I am a convert. And I might have just ordered two more orchids ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
@MusicalRedmint next you will have your own YouTube channel LOL ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜„
That's great news, Susann. After attending a recent Orchid Society talk, I am trying to find out if they have Australian Native Orchids in the USA.
I am thinking of joining the Orchid Society, I mean they give you 3 new orchids so I would already be ahead of the membership price...
So you are not alone, not alone at all LOL ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ
@Seymour ๐Ÿ˜€
1. Doubtful. Her 400+orchids sound very stressful. I will dabble along as long as I can though.
2. Do tell. I know we even have some in Germany, but those are not the ones I am interested in sadly.
3. That sounds like a actually great reason for membership. ๐Ÿ˜€ but I thought you were holding back in spite of your interest and decided they were not great for your growing conditions? Did I get something wrong? Or are you giving in? ๐Ÿ˜€
@MusicalRedmint
1. Good point and why would anyone want tk compete with her
2. Photos of the infomsheer gives names of Orchids
3. Agreed and also they will repot any orchid you bring it along
4. I really have enough moth orchids so maybe time to diversify
@Seymour Ah. So I just misunderstood then. Sry. I think I mixed this up, when you said, you did not want to buy *another* phal you just saw at the shop. That makes much more sense though ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
Yes with everything I know about the Australian climate, cattleyas and cymbidiums seem like they would thrive there... definitely more than in the dank, windy, cold, and low-light northern Germany... a reasonable person, who has not just bought those to two in these very conditions might say. ๐Ÿค”
Also I just read "silly plants" instead of "window sill plants", so maybe I should take a break from the app now. Especially since my first reaction was "yes, phalaenopsis *are* rather silly" instead of "oh, I probably misread that"...
@Seymour Sry, I think you lost me. Maybe my brain is even more chaotic than usual (not unlikely, just look at above comments), but I do not quite understand what you are referring to with the first part of your comment.
@MusicalRedmint no it was my brain that was fried...I was so tired I mistook your comment for another person who has a similar "photo"
@MusicalRedmint deleted it to avoid any more confusion
@Seymour Aaah ๐Ÿ˜€ that is very reassuring ๐Ÿ˜€ thanks
