@TutorBegonia12 Hi Elizabeth 😊 Yes you can remove them however, I don't think that your plant was ID'd correctly. It's definitely not a Mikado. It looks more like a palm of some kind. Pigmy Date Palm maybe? Also your plants info tag says it's in a pot without drainage? If so you might want to repot it into a pot with drainage holes so that the water can flow freely. If not you could risk root rot.
