It might be the water? I have well water so I use a britta and filter it.
I read a post on Reddit only this morning about pineapple plants, but do you think I can find it now? Hella no!!
I do remember it saying that it can take 36 months for one to start to bloom, depending on method of prop (topper, slips, pups) and conditions which have to be close to perfect. Once it starts to bloom it can take six months to start to fruit, after which the plant dies.
I took from that piece that if you’re growing pineapple plants, do it for the joy not the bloom/fruit as it’s a looooooong old wait πŸͺ¬
Hey! It does take about 9 months to get a pineapple, that’s stem will grow directly out of the center and it will only grow one. - if it isn’t blooming and you want to encourage it to, I’d recommend getting a fox farm https://a.co/d/ejvm8v4 I use these on my pineapples 🍍 and dragonfruits, they are amazing! - they encourage your plant to grow fruit and help a ton. It won’t be a bad idea to also use rainwater, I have big rain barrels to collect water, in some areas your city will actually give you a free rain barrel for water usage. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions
Oh, and use a fertilizer that is for when the plant is β€œblooming/fruiting” that generally triggers its response to want to start growing fruit. 🍍
Thanks everyone! I keep meaning to post Spike Lee’s photo on a Friday. Wow! Has it grown!
