Semi-Hudro Culture

#PhalaenopsisOrchid we shall see! Excited to try this method. 2 days in water, then I will let the roots air dry for 5 days, then 2 days in water, and so on. I use orchid bark for my orchids normally, but this way I can see the roots and don’t have to worry about gnats!

@HumaneGabisan77 interesting!! do you have an leca or other material in the water? I think maybe what you are doing is called semi-water culture, as semi-hydro usually involves some kind of inert material in the reservoir/base. I’ll look forward to any updates you may have! Do you know how you might stake any flower spikes you get?
That’s really interesting. I’ve never heard of that method.

Mine did amazing as an aquatic orchid. I live in AZ so my normal humidity is a fraction of what they need, I simply could not keep it hydrated otherwise.
