Does the pot have drainage. If not you absolutely must transplant into a pot with drainage.
No drainage=No oxygen
This causes bacteria growth which multiply rapidly and then the bacteria feed on plant roots causing root rot.
Also if the roots can't access oxygen it loses its ability to absorb water and nutrients.
