I don’t have any solutions but can sympathize. I bottom water mine when the soil feels dry. She does really well and has lots of new growth but I have to figure out why some of the undergrowth gets crispy and straggly. Looks like there are quite a few others here with similar issues.
Found this in Fb today. Apparently a repot every year helps and that is usually just done by clip and stick propagation.

@SmoothPeyote62 @JauntyCanna90 I definitely agree with this method. My tradescantia ( I like to call them wandering zebras πŸ¦“) get very lanky in the winter and I have to cut and replant to make a full plant. One plant any way….. the other one is plotting to take over the world like pinky and the brain. The one that is thriving gets lot of light from grow lights. So I think that is part of what is going on.
