Is she ok?
I bought this beautiful ficus last Saturday and she seems to have some trouble getting used to her new home. Her leaves have started going vertical since Saturday. I am a little scared she isnβt getting enough sunlight. Sheβs in a narrow yet south facing window. Thoughts? #Ficus
7β pot with drainage

I have 2 of those ficus, the black one and the pink one. Both of them took different approaches when I got them. One of them was doing the same exact thing as urs and the other one was staying the same. I usually wait a few days and see how it goes. Depending on what state or part u are, the heater or AC can affect them. I had to wait at least 2 weeks to see which one was actually the one reacting badly to the situation. Iβd suggest just wait for now. If she continues to do that, maybe move her to a brighter area, they do love lights just not tooo much.
@LeonieNL Welcome to the community you will like it here! As for your Ficus: Direct sunlight in the morning or late afternoon is fine, but avoid harsh midday sun which may cause leaf scorch. This plant does not tolerate low light. Water when 50%-75% of the soil volume is dry. Water slowly so that it soaks into the soil until it flows through the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot. Hereβs a website that might help a little more: https://bloomscape.com/plant-care-guide/burgundy-rubber-tree/#:~:text=Direct%20sunlight%20in%20the%20morning,does%20not%20tolerate%20low%20light.&text=Water%20when%2050%25%2D75,the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pot. Happy Growing
I have a lot of ficus and some do this for me more than others. I have one window with 5 ficus and only my tineke complains about the light. I agree with @Roblovesplants to give it a couple weeks before you worry. While turning their leaves toward the light is normal, when there is really only one source it can look more drastic than it is.
@LeonieNL happens to all of us, specially when we get a new one. But each plant is different.. even if itβs the same exact type of plant, it will still react different to the weather or the spot or the light, so just give it some time and see what happens!!
@LeonieNL Welcome to Greg!
Bright, indirect light is ideal for growing the Rubber Plant, however they are unusually tolerant of lower light spaces for a ficus. To keep the plant happiest though, it is commonly recommended to place it by a southern facing window with sheer curtains for the brighter light to filter through.
They also love humidity so you can spritz it daily or every other day. I do mine anyways.
It prefers moist and humid air due to its tropical origin, but can survive in less humid temperatures. Rubber plants are sensitive to temperature changes and prefer to live in areas with consistent humidity and temperature. Toxicity: A rubber plant's sap can cause skin irritation for some people.
