White powdery spots all over leaves after spraying with i...

#Dracaena I just got a big gorgeous Dracaena today and my partner said to spray with insecticidal soap before we bring it in with all the other plants..I noticed white blotchy spots all over every leaf after.. now I don't know if it was there before or if it's residue from the spray....I'm already on a neverending journey to figure out what is wrong with my herb plants and I'm paranoid it's every type of pest but can't really be definitive about anything..I think I became plant obsessed too fast bringing in too many at once when I'm a complete novice ðŸ˜Ŧ..I was thinking of wrapping up the bottom of the Dracaena and putting in the shower and giving a good spray and then wiping off every leaf...I'm in over my head!!
So you have pictures?
If you say you've noticed it after treatment... was your insecticidal soap homemade? If it contained normal tap water, it might just have contained lots of salts, which leave a residue.
If it really looks like more than that, lol for malt bugs. Those are relatively big bugs (very small offspring though) that leave a powdery residue and sometimes protect themselves in a powdery cocoon/ shell. In my opinion the best treatment here would be spot treatments with rubbing alcohol. Look for those powdery spots or for sticky spots (they produce dew) and then look for them in nearby hiding places (they are very good a hiding in every nook and cranny). Disinfect/ wipe down the surrounding areas and check nearby plants. They like to travel.
If that still isn't it, the only thing that comes to mind without a picture would be certain fungi, but again, without a picture it's hard to id.
If it is just residue from the tap water you should be able to remove the spots with an acid, e.g. lemon juice or vinegar. You can water it down a bit and maybe should first test it on one leaf before wiping down the whole plant
Also: if it really is mealy bugs: yes showering the plant well get rid of a lot of them, but since they hide, it will not be the end of it. They need patience and repeated treatments
Thank you so much! I don't see any bugs and I did some spot treatments with the rubbing alcohol...I think I'm going to give the vinegar a try...I'll post a photo before I do tomorrow and then an after.... apologies for the late response.. I found out my pup most likely has kidney disease a few days ago 😭
Oh no. I'm so sorry. I woran you all the best. No apologies needed even without those circumstances. This is an app to have fun and to haggle care of or plants whenever we have time. I hope your pup can be cured and wish you two lots of strength.
With mealies you might have found one or two ones during your inspections yet. even though they are good at hiding can get quite big. So let's assume something less destructive right now. ðŸĪž
