does this look like the result of overwatering?

The pellets on top of the soil are slug pesticides, but the plant began shriveling up before I added the pellets to take care of the slugs. Is there anything I can do to revive it?

At this point I would remove all the infected soil, wash the roots in room temperature water and repot it. In the end of the day you know this plant best, all I can do is give advice to the best of my ability. Good luck , hope your plant bounces back soon.
