Those are fungus gnats. Your best bet to eradicate them is to only water the plant from the base. They lay their eggs on moist soil so if you bottom water this immensely reduces the ability for them to continue to reproduce on the moist soil!

Typically this would not cause the leaf to brown.

Have you checked the roots for sign of root rot?
Oh no, I’m sorry this is happening! Have you checked the plant for pests? & how often is getting watered?
@elisenavidad I've seen some small black flies around the base lately, so I'm trying to water it a bit less now, like every 10 days only when soil is really dry. But flies are still there. Could this be the reason? Any way to get rid of it?
When my leaves were unfurling like this I realized weeks later that she had spider mites. They’re so small that I didn’t even notice until they actually started to create webs. To be safe I’d definitely wipe down her leaves with neem oil just as pest treatment and prevention and as @elisenavidad said you can also check the roots if you haven’t already.
Wipe down, treat with neem oil for two weeks, sprinkle some Bonide Systemic Insect Control around base, and clean out all root rot.
My best suggestion for fungus gnats are beneficial nematodes
