Chinese Evergreen, Red Siam Aurora Aglaonema?
I started seeing a few golden leaves. They still have red on the outside trim and down the middle. Should I trim these off? I also tried using LED grow lights for the first time ever and had them about 24 inches away from her, but I think that I burnt the tips of some of the leaves. Should I cut the tips off, are the leaves OK? Thanks so much! #ChineseEvergreen #RedSiamAuroraAglaonema οΏΌ

@Dragonfly15 - Hello ππΌ Tanya π
Yes, the yellowish leaves and brown tips can be cut off! Brown means dead so that wonβt come back and yellow means over/under watering! Those normally wonβt come back so you can cut them as well! Cutting off the yellow leaves should send out new growth! So itβs kind of a good thing! New growth is what we want!!
I donβt have the Red Siam, but I do have a Pink Splash and it does not like any sort of sunlight! Bright, but indirect seems to be the best! I do have a grow light above it, but not too too close! If ya know what I mean!! I donβt think the grow light causes brown tips though!
That could be from a few different things!! The type of water youβre using, how often youβre watering, or how wet the soil is!

Mine was doing that so I repotted and found root rot from overwatering π I cut off as much rot as I could find and used all new soil... As long as I'm careful with watering, she seems to have stabilized for these last few months. I also have mine under a light bc I read they like bright light (but I'm still learning!)
@SuavePuriri thank you so much!
@pinkfantasy1 thank you I think I will repot to check for root rot. Maybe after that Iβll try the Les lights again. She really showed her colors!
@Dragonfly15 thatβs a beautiful red Siam! Iβm just dying to get one. lol. I found one at Loweβs but I gave it as a gift. So now I just need to make room in my house for my own. (We are running out of space here!) But I just wanted to mention that I have several Aglaonemas and I actually donβt have any of them under grow lights. I have one is a dark corner, and two in a dark north facing window, of course they take even longer to use up their water and for the soil to dry out in these dark environments, so keep that in mind if you decide to go with out the grow light. I only water mine ever 2-3 weeks. One from Loweβs in one of those self watering pots, has a very water retaining soil, I only water that one like once a month. It just stays wet forever!
@nellz4estfairyz thanks! I actually used to have it pretty far from a south facing window ( pretty much all I have in my apartment) and it did fine. I think I was trying to see if more colors would come out but sounds like I should probably leave well enough alone, except repotting.
@Dragonfly15 I have had that thought with one of my Aglaonema as well because itβs very pale in color and I donβt want to lose the variegation, so I have it near a south east window. It looks happy but I have considered moving it back a bit to see how it would affect the color. How is your red Siam now?
