Should I trim some of the small leaves at the bottom? I’m thinking 3 or 4, which all have no split.
Plants should be trimmed at least once a year. Dont cut leaves, but cut nodes. You may propagate the node in water or in soil. Find a node with aerial roots for better results
Welcome to Greg, Nanette! You can trim them if you want, but I lean towards leafing them alone.

Those leaves are little solar panels for your plant. I time, you'll see them start to yellow and then you know the plant is finished using them.

Before you know it, all your plant's leaves will have fenestrations!

Trining and pruning plants can be good for a plant and many times, you can propagate the parts you cut off from certain plants. 😁
