Xena is not so much a warrior!
#ZzPlant She is very much a princess! π€¦ββοΈ I have had this plant for 3 years and have only ever got 1 shoot to start to grow-and that was just last month. One day the new shoot looked really good, watering day came, and then 2 days later the shoot was dead. I have considered repotting. I bottom water all plants. It is almost watering day, so no judgement on the soil! π
What am I doing wrong?

@MercifulMint28 Hi Chelsea! The soil may actually be the issue- They need to be able to breathe and if the soil is very compact they canβt get air and water will have a hard time getting to all the soil as well. Try top watering this time and maybe soon repot it with an organic mix of soil and perlite and some small bark chips or leca so it can breathe and drink all the water it wants- if you are looking for new growth, try giving it more sunlight, nothing direct but maybe try a different window. Good Luck!πͺ΄πΊ
Wow, @ZappyLilac84 your zz has large leaves. Mine are tiny. I just got my first Zz so am learning from you all.
@PurelyTwisted you definitely came to the right place!!!!
@PurelyTwisted I see it is near a heater? That will also require more watering. If I'm not mistaken the soil will dry out faster.. @Ponytailmom ???
@ZappyLilac84, @PurelyTwisted I wouldnβt ever chance putting a plant close to a heater, it can do all kinds of damage. It can interfere with the leaves ability to use water because of heat waves that come off of a heater. It dries out the air too much which keeps the plant from using water the way it needs to. I would move it for sure if it were mine. Iβm not a professional by any means, I can only share my many years of experience and what has worked for me, I am happy to do so but please do your due diligence when caring for you plants regardless of where the info comes from! Itβs just good to get different opinions and decide for yourself whatβs best for you! There are many many years of experience on Greg! Itβs is where I go to get opinions for sure! Good Luck!πͺ΄πΊ
