Monstera Thai Constellation care
Soooo I was going to wait but a really reputable nursery nearby got some beautiful constellations in, for an amazing price! Iβm going to go get one on Saturday!
I know I had a strict no plants indoors ruleβ¦ but I will cave for this beautiful baby π they have been my dream plant for a long time and what got me into plants in general.
What are the best ways to care for Thais?
Lighting, humidity, best place to put it in the house? What pests should I watch out for?
They come in 20cm pots, Iβll double check the soil to make sure itβs chunky as I know they are prone to root rot, but anything else I should watch out for?
Should I get a grow light, humidifier, etc?
I do have the aircon on quite often in the lounge room so should I stay away from there?
Thanks in advance! From one excited happy girl!! ππ»πΏβ¨ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #PetsAndPlants #MonsteraMonday #PlantCorner #PestControl #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #Monstera #ThaiConstellationMonstera #MonsteraMob #MonsteraMonday

Congratulations on getting your dream plant! Here are some tips for caring for your Thai Constellation Monstera:
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. A spot near an east-facing window is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Allow the excess water to drain out. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.
Humidity: Thai Constellations love humidity. Mist the leaves regularly or use a humidifier.
Pests: Watch out for common houseplant pests like mealybugs and spider mites. Inspect your plant regularly and treat any infestations promptly.
Fertilizing: Fertilize your Monstera with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once a month during the growing season.
With proper care, your Thai Constellation will thrive and bring you joy for years to come!

@StarryKentia isnβt she gorgeous? I wanted to wait until I was moved into the new house but I couldnβt pass this baby up! She is perfect π
Make sure you don't pay a lot. Thai con prices have gone way down. Make sure you take a look at the roots as well to make sure they didn't plop in small roots in a big pot to charge more money.
They don't really need different care. Use your own chunky mix by adding orchid bark and perlite and coco chips if you have it. Start with bright indirect light at first and see how it adjusts. I don't give mine special humidity and they do just fine.

@AwesomePlants thanks so much! I paid $54 for this baby π€―
@HayleyQ that is expensive for a plant, but truly an amazing price for such a beauty!
@USAGardenHub Oh thank you so much for all this info! Itβs so much appreciated! π
@teacher12 yes for sure, never thought Iβd spend this kinda money on plants π but I thought $54 AUD was a steallllll honestly! Esp coming from the nursery it did! π they are selling some tiny unhealthy 3- leafed ones at Bunnings for $99+!! Insane π€― she is so gorgeous isnβt she π₯°
@HayleyQ isnβt that the truth? My plants are my new addiction, but they give back in so many ways. Itβs fun to visit the local nurseries and meet plant people. And every so often we find a wish list plant and hear the hum of hallelujah. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy π₯°π±π₯°π±
@HighMoonorchid hi! What intensity is your grow light on? I want to do the same with my 2 Thai constellations but I donβt know if I should set it at 25%, 50% light, etc. hope this question makes sense π thanks!
Hiya, I have grow lights on all my indoor plants including my Thai Con - I use mostly warm colour temperature lights (ie yellow-ish) instead of the pinky-purple because theyβre mostly all in my living room and thatβs the vibe I prefer :) In terms of brightness, 100%! You can go down a pretty interesting rabbit hole with learning about grow lights but my general advice is that monstera deliciosa varieties like it bright. Placing them too close to the plant isnβt ideal if the lights are more than 10W or so - if itβs one of those bar lights and is 10W they will be happy without burning probably up to about 5-10 cm away. Grow bulb lights around 20W and over can be much further away. I probably wouldnβt bother buying bulb lights more than 20W for only one plant. You can get grow bulbs from IKEA which have a very slight pinkish hue, not super pink and theyβre pretty good and not expensive. And they fit into standard lamps that take E27 bulbs. I ordered a few from IKEA online and got some desk lamps from Kmart which take a max of 20W bulbs and I couldnβt be happier! I put those in a few places around the house. Kmart also has a manual timer for $8 so you donβt even need to turn the lights on or off, just let it do the work for you ππ
@WelsomeRhodotus youβre amazing!! Thanks so much for the info! Iβll be heading to ikea and Kmart tomorrow :p
Good luck!! Iβm so excited for you!! I wish I had an IKEA near me - you could probably just get a lamp from there as well. I was looking at the Rodflik cos itβs not super exy but I would love to be able to try moving the lamp bit around to check that it stays in place with the bulb in. I bought the Tertial table lamp which looks like a cute Pixar lamp and just clamps to a table or a shelf but the lamp flops down (or it did for me!) when I put in a grow bulb so defo do not recommend that one. You must post an update when youβve set it all up!
