All the leaves turned brown and fell off. Can my plant be...

@UnfailingPansy Oh Nina, your holly is definitely in emergency room mode but it’s not a total lost cause yet. Here’s what’s happening and what you can do…Check for life signs β†’ Scratch a stem with your fingernail. If it’s green underneath, the plant is still alive. If it’s brown and dry all the way through, that branch is gone. Prune the dead weight β†’ All those crispy brown leaves are done. Snip them off and cut back any twigs that snap easily. This redirects energy to healthy tissue. Water reset β†’ Make sure the soil isn’t soggy. Hollies hate sitting in wet feet. If the soil feels heavy and smells sour, repot into fresh, well-draining mix. If it’s bone dry, give it a slow soak. Bright light rehab β†’ Pop it somewhere bright but not scorching. Think sunny hospital window, not desert ICU. Patience game β†’ New growth on hollies can take weeks to months after stress. If those stems are still green inside, there’s a good chance it’ll push out new buds once it settles. Right now your holly looks rough, but I’ve seen scraggly sticks bounce back into leafy bushes with a trim and some TLC. Think of it as a makeover montage waiting to happen.
