Can you give me #anthurium advice?

Hey #greggang,
As some of you may remember I purchased seeds from #seedlingraceseries and have been growing this vittarifollum cross since.

It seems like it is mature enough I want to be sure I give it all that a mature plant needs. From the very little information I can find it seems like I just let it grow in a pot and know it's going to hang "sideways." That is about it.

Any other advice? Right now it's in a south-facing window with no extra humidity.

🌱Two tips : Anthuriums might have a period of reduced growth during the winter months. During this time, you can scale back on watering and fertilizing. Resume regular care when the growing season begins.
Ensure good aeration in the soil to prevent root rot. Adding perlite or orchid bark to the potting mix can enhance drainage.

I agree with @Lunatik4 : They have reduced growth during winter unless you provide a very stable, similar environment but it’ll still act up. Keep the plant with good drainage. I use UV lights during this time of year to keep the plants happy. A dark background or backdrop is ideal so it won’t crisp during winter. You can line your shelf with black non-reflective material if you use lights. Reduce feeding and watering. Protect from cold and excessive heat over 85Β°F and under 70Β°F. Maintain excellent drainage in a very loose mix of soil, pine bark, orchid bark, charcoal, pumice, and leca. You may want to purchase a small humidifier for the winter to provide humidity it needs. It will grow sideways unless you have overhead light but it will eventually abandon leaves nd start going sideways as the foliage (straps) get longer and favor one side.

I have 43 anthurium. 2 are this exact species. 4 are other straps and they all lean one way. They like being hung up, not being on a shelf once the straps exceed 6 inches. All of mine are being repotted to looser medium to prepare for winter and prevent root rot. Yours looks like it could graduate to a larger pot but still keep the same amount of water to deter oversaturated medium. It looks good! Just reduce the fertilizer or food amount and frequency to let it rest a bit during colder months.
