Calathea looking sad
I have it around 3ft from a southeast window, near a humidifier. The new leaves are turning yellow and they look droopy. 1st time owning a calathea zebrina #calathea #zebrina #help
@sproutherbology that might be too close to direct light. Calathea love humidity, but prefer more northern facing light. At least mine do. Also make sure youβre using distilled water as tap water causes them to act up.
I adore my calatheas, but they are so fussy. I agree with @TheOddAsity Indirect light for sure, distilled water, and avoid misting. I think the best way to give them extra humidity is to group them with other plants, but Iβm weird like that. I will take one of mine into the bathroom for a few minutes after a hot shower because the humidity seems like a nice treat.
Hi @sproutherbology! When did you get the plant? They are known to get fuzzy when change in environment π But I think the light-condition and the humidifier should be fine, as long as it doesn't get direct sunlight.
Is it a long time since you repotted? What about watering, do you use tap-water?
This kind of droppyness and yellowing leaves might indicate there is something wrong with the roots, usually overwatering/the soil stays too wet for too long. It might be time to check if the roots are ok.πͺ΄ (If you just repotted it is quite normal for them to throw a fit, but they should recover again in about a week or something has gone wrong)
