@Judeplants Your plant card indicates a 9 inch pot. That seems a little big for an Aglaonema the size of your plant so it may take a little longer to fill out that pot but regardless, your plant does look healthy. I think the new growth on the bottom just tends to be smaller than the new leaves growing from the top of these plants. I have several different variations of the Aglaonema. Each of mine are either in a 5 or 6 inch pot and are located in various rooms within the house. So far, all of them seem to be sprouting smaller leaves at the bottom and larger at the top but they are all very healthy plants. Moving your plant closer to indirect sun canβt hurt especially if you want deeper color in your leaves. I keep all of mine between 1-2 feet away from either a south/southwest, northwest or east facing window. I also tend to water less than Greg suggests. I never let the soil completely dry. They seem to be happier on the moist side. From what I can see and my experience you are doing just fineππ» Keep up the good work #HappyPlants
@Judeplants looks beautiful! Good job!
@Tisforthistle thank you! So I would pinch the lower leaves? Is that something you recommend?
@Judeplants I would pinch the tips of its stems after a leaf node. To make it bushy and shape up. If that's what you want to do. I think it's very pretty the way it is. I did see something about pruning them in late winter... So if you haven't tried it, I might wait depending on where you live. When I prune mine right before they become slow because of Winter... My aniexty convinces me I killed it. Lol sooooo to each their own. But I think it is a lovely plant just as it is as well
@Shells_Garden thanks for your thorough explanation! Two funny things:
1) I went back and measured the pot. Itβs actually 6in. I donβt know what I was thinking when I put 9.
2) Today I found a leaf that was showing extreme signs of overwatering π so I think itβs really too far from a window. I havenβt been watering anywhere near as often as Greg is trying to get me to, but after a week the soil is still wet. Iβm going to try moving it close to my South window. Will see how that goes!

@Judeplants they do like moist but not super soggy soil. Greg had me watering every 3 days but I cut back because I was afraid id cause root rot. That was just too much water for a 5-6 inch plant. Iβm glad you figured out your pot size. Greg uses the pot size to calculate the amount to water so Iβm glad@you caught it. A plant in a 6 inch pot needs 6-8 oz water per week. If the leaves are wilting and turning yellow, then itβs absolutely a great idea to move it closer to a window. Make sure itβs not in direct sunlight and also ensure itβs away from the air conditioning, fans and heaters. They donβt like the drafts. It can cause black spots to form and damage the leaves. Lastly, I mist my plants every day with filtered water so they get some humidity. keep me posted on how sheβs doing. Iβd be interred to see the progress. Iβm sure she going to thrive!π
