How to fix humidity for #alocasiasilverdragon?

The new leaves are wilting and curling, and I believe it's a humidity problem. I mist it a lot, but nothing is working. Also, I can't put a humidifier in my room and it's too big for a terrarium. What can I do?

It's been my experience that they absolutely do not like their leaves touched and that they absolutely do not want any water ever on their leaves...this means no misting and... "Live and let live." πŸ₯΄
I also had not much love for my Silver Dragon πŸ‰ Prince, when his leaves quickly started looking like yours about 10 days after I got him.
It ended up that I cut off all of the nasty leaves, there were only 1 or 2 left, bought a really good humidifier with a timer, let his soil dry out to 3" dry from the top, started using distilled water, with 3 to 4 drops of We the Wild GROW liquid fertilizer every time he's watered, and added a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to his water every 4 months or so, to help airiate the soil. Also, I highly recommend buying a water meter. They're great, inexpensive, and, you'll never overwater your plants again!
Prince has turned into a beautiful, happy, plant. It took a while, but never give up, as they say.
If you can...we all need to use humidifiers for all of our plants, especially while using heating or cooling systems...get a humidifier πŸ€—πŸ™πŸ’•. And, don't forget to wash your hands before and after cutting off those ugly leaves at their base with sterile scissors!
So honey... please don't despair...I wish you the best.
I've come to realize that Prince is my easiest plant to care for!
Last photo is of humidifier and also much needed distiller for making distilled water πŸ’¦. An added bonus. Have just discovered that distilled makes a remarkably delicious cuppa Joe πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ™‹πŸŽ‰β€οΈ
Hey πŸ‘‹ I'm not sure this is a humidity issue tbh hun, I'd expect that affect the leaves a bit more evenly... Are those the newer leaves that are struggling? It's a bit hard to tell from the photo.

If others with more experience of these agree it's humidity you need though, you could try getting a big, clear plastic bag and put it over the top of the pot like a makeshift humidity dome x
I have 2 alocasia dragon scale. 1 looks perfect 1 looks like yours and tbh I don’t know why? They are usually sitting right beside each other even get watered togethor everything exactly the same but 1 just won’t shape up ! I’ve threatened to throw her ass out 😑. Anyway lol. I’ve been looking for an alocasia silver dragon. But I’m never impressed with how they look. Always kind of blah looking I think. I think@they may have something wrong with that alocasia strain in general though.
I’d bet both are a genetic modified strain not a bread strain. But either way it doesn’t mean it’s actually produces stable seeds to grow it from
I see pictures of perfect ones. But never actually seen one
@JenniB81 yup, it's the newer leaves for the main part, but the older ones have brown tips.
I’m so glad it’s not just me. I had to recently chop up both of my plants because of this same wilting and browning everywhere. I did get them on discount so it’s not an expensive experiment, but I’m kinda curious whether my cutting it back will help or not. I also did put one of the pants in a plastic freezer bag like another user had mentioned, and the leaves are still green and upright, for now. Hopefully you find an answer soon and can share with the rest of us.
It's always a worry when it's the newest leaves isn't it?! Also are infamous for dropping leaves in winter... and for dropping and not wanting to have more than three leaves at any time! πŸ˜‚ But I've not encountered this myself yet.

It sounds from what @didaticpetunia says that you could well be right about the humidity though πŸ₯° and my bag trick should help! πŸ€žπŸ’š Best of luck! Xx

Oh...forgot to share this with you!
Silver πŸ‰s rarely put out new leaves...If you can see on the photos, they have these magical things called corms from the mother plant. Every now and again, one miraculously pushes up through the soil and slowly unfurls a brand new leaf!
@Catplantaddict I had a horrible time with my silver dragon. In my case I bethat the soil mix was not conducive to my watering and care style. I was killing by over watering. In your case, I wonder if the soil mix that it came in, and/or the self watering pot might be causing the problem? The top of the soils may look dry, but down in the bottom it may be too wet. Can you stick your finger way down in to the dirt and check?
@CutePolypremum oh! I've been misting them a lot, allowing water on their leaves. I can add hydrogen peroxide to the water if needed, but i have no fertilizer (i think) because I don't use fertilizer for most of my plants. Also, I asked, but my mom does not want me to have a humidifier, but I can try to persist.
@nellz4estfairyz A few days ago, I repotted it because its soil was compact and didn't look nutritious. Also, I don't know how to use a self-watering pot. It's the first one I have ever gotten.
@Catplantaddict I’m not wild about self watering pots. Some plants do better than others! I have a spider plant in one and it’s thriving. Same with a monstera deliciosa. Some self watering pots allow you to water from@the bottom, which is nice. But it seems to me that if you too water from the top, they stay too wet.

Hi there!
Through trial and error, I kinda think that the secret is...a lot of plants like to be watered from the top, while others need to sit in a bowl of water for up to 4 hours. Whatever way is used, letting them completely drain...for hours if need be, will rid one of possible root rot and other problems.
A couple of months ago, I was rooting through my appliance accessories and came across a rack for air frying, not being used.
Well, I found a use for it!
It goes in the kitchen sink or bathtub, depending on the size of the plant.
They rest on top, are watered, and left to drip dry for about 5 hours.
When the other guys are done soaking up their water from the bowls, they also hang out there for 5 hours.
It works!
Am not a fan myself, of self-watering planters. Bought some and then ended up returning them.
Be well...enjoy your plant friends ☺️!

Hi!
Oh my goodness... it's around 5 am here, and I think that's the middle of the night where you are? So many of us plant addicts check on our babies when we first wake up and I hafta confess, I'm in that group.
Then, it's onward to check out Greg.
I am soooooo very happy that you can use the information I sent and really hope that your Silver Dragon πŸ‰ perks up and becomes more beautiful than ever.
Also have to thank our awesome Greg community...we all are constantly learning from each other πŸ’ž.
I was surprised with "best answer" and appreciate that.
Good luck with mom. Kill her with kindness and maybe she'll change her mind. Lol πŸ˜‚.
Have a lovely, swell day... πŸΏοΈπŸ‡πŸ£πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™πŸ˜
@CutePolypremum honestly, when it's a weekend, I check on my plants as well as Greg, but on weekdays like this, I check around lunchtime or during the afternoon.

Also, about my mom, she just told me there was a weird buildup on the humidifier, so that was why we couldn't use it. I simply thought she didn't want me to have one before.
@Catplantaddict
Hi again! πŸ€ πŸ‘‹
Well, that's a relief about the humidifier. It's time to get a new one!
On average, they should be cleaned about once a week and it's best to use distilled water if you can.
I'm retired and not on a schedule, so I can attend to the kiddos (plants) anytime... probably way too much, if you ask anyone else πŸ˜‚
BTW... your kitty is so cute 🐾🐾
@CutePolypremum that’s a great idea with the air fryer rack!
