Scale or scarring? π€
Apparently this posted twice, somehow... Sorry for the double post, folks!
I've got this #dragonfruit cactus that I got from @Colin a few months ago and I've noticed these light brown markings on it... I'm entirely unsure if there's more of them than when I first got it cuz my memory sucks butts... Anyways, what do y'all think? It's it anything to be worried about or is it probably nothing?
Also, is it normal for the edges to be brown like that?

@dreamlettuce some seem to get corking or scars no matter what and you canβt do anything about it. Especially San Pedro cacti. Itβs very common for them to get black spots and scars for no reason. And also certain euphorbia. I have one that always gets corking and they even warn you about that before you buy it so you know to expect that.
Same as my other comment, if you try scratching and it easily comes off, I say itβs scale and start treating.
I really donβt know where they come from but even if one plant appears to have scarring, itβs best to just start treating all to eradicate them. I suspect one of my OG succs might have it and thatβs why I havenβt been able to fully get rid of it between my little succ corner in my other room.
But with these, I do know that they somehow scar because they donβt like certain waters? But even then, I donβt understand how succulents can scar if nothing is touching itβ¦unless a fungal disease is in place OR a pest. Either way, Iβd treat and keep an eye out! π«Άπ½
Edit: sorry if it sounds like Iβm rambling, Iβm talking in my head and typing as I do π€£π€£

@dreamlettuce βοΈ forgot to tag you and don't want to edit cuz then it'll remove my pics lol
Pretty sure it a just normal cactus scarring from old cuts/scrapes, kind of like a touch of corking but not at the base - just its way of protecting it's self... But, I could be wrong? @SirLiquorice will def know ππ½ π
@roxyvivien @PlantMompy thank you! I've been so paranoid about it but honestly couldn't decide what it was so I waited to post about it... π
@Colin is your mama plant wild grown? Just wondering, been curious ever since you posted about your multitude of props way back when. Lol I'd also love to see a picture if you feel like posting one. In my head it's huge and magnificent. Lol π€βοΈ
@SirLiquorice Definitely have a few of my cacti and euphorbia that have corked but sometimes it looks more βnaturalβ than pestβ¦if that makes sense? π€£
Thank you @SirLiquorice I'll keep an eye on it, but glad to know it's probably nothing to worry about (:
Oh wow @Colin that is so cool!! I've never actually seen a mature one. What's left of that bloom looks massive too! Hopefully mine grows up big and strong like that some day! (:
@WickedValkyrie it will! They do need support as they grow, some kind of stake or trellis since itβs actually a climbing cactus. And the flowers are amazing!
Oh wow!! π @Colin that is gorgeous!! The petals almost look like feathers! I love it! π«Άπ«Άπ«Ά
My lil Zym is just now starting to grow enough roots that I can see them through the clear pot I put him in! Can't wait to see what he does come spring!! π
