Is something wrong with my Sedum?

Ive been growing this plant for a week, and I noticed that some of the leaves are just randomly falling off, and some also have random dark patches. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the plant sick? And is there anything I can do to help it? #Sedum #help

Does the pot have drainage? Anytime my succs leaves fell off it was from rot because I was either over watering or my pot didn’t have drainage
Hi! Did you happen to buy this plant from a large home improvement store? Asking because I have had many problems buying sick succulents from both of the major ones. Yours looks to have an infection, by the black on the leaves that fell, though it’s hard to say what kind. You can attempt to treat it with a copper based fungicide, or a baking soda and soap mixture (google “plant fungicide recipe” for a good one you can make at home). It may or may not help, but it’s worth a try. However, if you’re losing a lot of leaves, a last resort is to “chop and prop” which you can also find instructions for by googling that phrase and your plant. That will only work if the infection hasn’t made it all the way to the top of the plant. I see you have a few in that pot, you may want to try separating them, unless all of them are losing leaves. If any are healthy, you’ll want to get them away from the sick one asap. Let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to help 💚 good luck!
PS- I have those pots, too, and they are not the best for succulents—succulents require terracotta or unglazed clay to help draw excess water away, and your soil mix is very important, too. It should be more grit than dirt. I can recommend some good ones, or you can look for cactus mix on Amazon, they sell great ones. The key is drainage! As @NatureCat said, overwatering/moisture retention is usually the culprit when a succulent is not doing well.
Hi @BabeVila! I bought mine from HomeDepot- is there a high chance of my plant being sick from that? Thank you so much for all the tips!!! Do you know any good places to buy succs?
@GardensOPlenty Ahhh unfortunately I got my sick ones there, too! I also got many healthy ones too, to be fair, but the sick ones made some of my other ones sick and I ended up losing a lot of them to a disease called Fusarium Wilt. I personally think they have an issue at one of their suppliers’, as it also happened to someone else on this app in another state. That said, I would recommend trying to treat it, it can’t hurt. And there are lots of good places online to buy succulents, thenextgardener.com is the most highly recommended, along with an online store called Desert Planet. There are lots more that I can’t remember right now, but I’m sure others can recommend some good ones! If you want to physically go pick them out, local nurseries are your best bet, and I heard that Tractor Supply has a large selection of healthy ones 😊
@BabeVila Thank you so much for all your help!!!
@GardensOPlenty Anytime!
