Tiny spots on my succulents… what’s causing this? Pests?
I’ve noticed suspicious spots appearing on a few of my succulents and I’m worried about what’s causing them. There’s also some scarring on the underside of the sedums leaves. (Referring to the smaller dark circles, I THINK the lighter white patches are just water spots)
I’ve had the sedum&pink echeveria for over a year now and haven’t noticed spots like this before, but I’ve only had the arrangement(w/ lipstick echeveria) for a couple of months now. Aside from the spots and possibly being slightly underwatered, all the affected plants appear otherwise healthy.
The sedum & echeveria currently live on my main plant shelf outside, and the rest of the succs up there still appear normal. The succulent arrangement has always been isolated from the rest of my plant population.
Should I be concerned? Or am I being overly paranoid? Quite panicked because they need to come inside soon, so if it’s pests I have to deal with that ASAP #SucculentSquad #Echeveria #Sedum #PestControl #OutdoorGrowing

Check into Edema, it’s when the roots can’t absorb water fast so it bursts the cells, so in short terms, overwatering.. overall they look healthy, but just cause the soil is dry doesn’t mean they are thirsty! I truly think it is edema..
@stephonicle thank you! I’m certainly hoping that’s the case, the last thing I want is to introduce pests to my indoor plants. They stayed indoors for a reason this summer😅
@Artistic_Stoner thanks for the suggestion! If I’m being honest I’m quite certain I’m underwatering rather than overwatering (they only get a proper soak around once a month, if that😅) but I was actually unaware of what edema was until reading your comment, so still very thankful for this info!!!
@thingsNstuff I hear ya! I've actually chucked an infested plant in the compost pile rather than treat it, out of an abundance of caution lol 😝
I recently found out you should always put saucers under outdoor plants because pests and diseases can get to it through the drainage holes 😳 Definitely something to keep in mind!

@thingsNstuff it’s my pleasure! The plant community is one of the most helpful I’ve ever come across, always learning something new 😌 hope nothing but prosperity for you & your plants 🌱
@stephonicle I actually had to do the same thing with my peppermint last winter! Discovered it was absolutely Infested with aphids so I chucked it into the snow😅
Thanks for the saucer tip! Usually I’ll dip the drainage holes in cinnamon before bringing them outside to deter bugs from entering, but I’m now realizing my new summer plants never got that luxury treatment upon coming come😅
