Hello everyone! I have this Zz plant for over a year, I a...
@VipSaffronplum Welcome to Greg, Andres!
Well, I don't know the details, like what you fertilized with, how much, what kind of dirt you used, etc.
But generally speaking:
ZZ plants don't require a lot of fertilizer, but if you do want a little boost, dilute a balanced fertilizer by 50%, and only use it once or twice in the growing season when you have active growth (spring & summer). Maybe once a month. You can use granular, liquid, or slow-release fertilizers, and you should always dilute the fertilizer to avoid damaging the plant's roots. You can also consider using organic fertilizers, which release nutrients gradually and enrich the soil.

Oh ouch, you may have fertilizer burn on the roots! Did you weaken the fertilizer beforehand? And if not, did you allow your pot to drain? With no drainage, the fertilizer salts likely stayed at the roots and burned them. To fix, youโll need to flush out the soil with LOTS of water to unsaturate and make sure the pot drains fully. I wouldnโt fertilize for at least 3 months to let the roots recover.
Thank you @UltraKoreanfir and @GnarlyJacaranda I think it was the fertilizer, although it was organic and I diluted properly I think since the pot has no drainage, thatโs whatโs causing the problem. I didnโt know either my Zz plant didnโt need fertilizer..
@VipSaffronplum Critical piece of info.....that pot should absolutely have drainage! Drill a hole in the bottom or get a different pot. You could very easily cause root rot if it stays wet for long.
I was thinking over watered/ water logged yellowing normally means too much water so with no drainage wholes that did it
Hi guys! This is an update.. So I read everyoneโs tips and I change the pot and wash the soil. Put her more close to the window, although I rarely open de blinds. And hereโs a pic of Khaleesi! Thank you all for your help!!
yellowing leaves typically indicates overwatering.
I am wondering @VipSaffronplum if it isn't trying to get comfy in the pot and it's focus is in the roots. The pot looks a little big to me. I think ZZ like to be a little snug in the pot. I only water mine every 15 days. It is far from windows. It did take almost a year to really start growing well. Hand in there. They are so pretty.
@stall54Jo beautiful Zz! Where did you get it a stake from ? It's perfect.
Mine is still a baby got it a couple days ago! I can't wait until it gets big like you all's ZZ.
