Cornstalk Dracaena leaves dying

I have had this guy for about 3-4 months, it had the dead edges on the edges of the upper leaves before, I did some research and thought it might be from using tap water. So I switched to filtered water 3 weeks ago, and removed the two worst leaves. Now two of its newest ones just died, did I overwater it? It has a lot of drainage for sure, I used a tropical potting mix and laid out mesh and rocks up about 2 inches from the bottom of my pot, and it has a hole at the base. #HappyPlants #Dracaena #CornstalkDracaena #PlantsMakePeopleHappy (I also don’t have Greg + so I can’t mark it as when I watered it)
12ft to light, indirect
10” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 month ago
The leaves I removed
It may just be stressed from the repot. Just give it a few days to see how it acclimates. Keep us posted!
@Spellbound I repotted it I think over a month ago now, maybe I should get a calendar for this stuff πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…. I have little concept of time but I believe that it was a week or two before I figured out to switch to filtered water that I repotted it cause I’ve been making changes and learning gradually instead of all at once
I am the same way. I learn little by little, with life these days who has time to take a crash course! All we can do is live and learn 😊 oh, and another bit of advice I forgot to give on dracenas... they like to be a bit on the dry side. I would let her dry out and I mean dry all the way out between watering! That's all I can think of now. Good luck!
From my understanding, corn plants like distilled water. I've been watering my two corn plants with that since I've got them. Maybe that would help your plants? You're on the right track, good work!
@KnowingFlatpea thank you! I did some research and distilled water is definitely best but it’s expensive/extra work I don’t have time for so I’ve been using just brita filtered water.
@Spellbound thank you that’s definitely helpful! I removed the dying new leaves and it already has a couple new ones so I think maybe it was just still adjusting, thank you :)
@EarlyWildprivet I have the same plant. I’ve had mine now for approximately 15 to 20 years and have had 6 to 7 babies come off the original plant. They’re gorgeous plants. I see in your second picture that there are two stalks. That’s how I keep getting more and more plants from the original plant
This one has two stalks that I will eventually separate and have another πŸ₯°β€οΈ
@ProWildprivet wow yours is gorgeous 15 years is awesome!! I’ve never kept plants alive longer than a year as an adhd teenager so I’m excited to see how it goes now that im trying again as an adult.
