#Dracaena Hi all π€ my bamboo plant has tag which says βBONSAI. Remove drainage plug and submerge in water once in a week. Let drain completely. Prefers indirectly light.β But when I google they say bamboo should be in water and stones together. I am confused. π€ but I am just giving it some water and letting it drain completely. My bamboo stalks are turning yellow.. what to do now ???
3ft to light, indirect
3β pot with drainage

@FairDewberry71 There is not necessarily one single cause here. The water quality plays a huge role. Tap water contains chlorine and fluoride, which are toxic to lucky bamboo and cause slow yellowing. Clean the Environment: If growing in water, change the water every one to two weeks and thoroughly rinse the container and any decorative stones to prevent algae and bacteria buildup.
Relocate the Plant: Move it to a spot with bright, indirect light.
Pruning: Yellow stalks usually cannot turn green again.
If only the top is yellow, cut off the discolored part to allow re-sprouting.
If the bottom is yellow or mushy, cut the healthy green top off above the yellowed area and place it in fresh water to root as a new plant.
Remove yellow stems immediately if they are part of a multi-stem arrangement to prevent decay or infection from spreading to healthy stalks.

@Persnickety Hello Ms. Persnickety, thanks for answering my question. However, Iβm not growing in the water as per the instructions. Iβve watered it, removed the draining plug underneath, let the water drain completely, and then put the plug back. Usually, thereβs no water in it; it just gets wet. What should I do? Should I pour water and let it sit in the water along with the stones?
