Not sure what to do.

Well, we got our first snow and a major power outage from about 3 am this morning until 2:30pm. I'm very concerned about my plants, it got quite cold in my home, down to 56Β°.
Since it was so cold for so long should I leave my plants alone and not water them today?
I don't want to traumatize my planty babies. #plantsmakepeoplehappy #greggang #plantaddict #greggers #greggerssupportinggreggers #sarahsgrove

Don’t panic about them until under 50 ❀️
Cold and dry= safe
Cold and wet =death
Definitely hold back from watering πŸ’š you can give small sips instead of full drenches if it stays cold. If you get really worried, wrap pots in bubble wrap, this will insulate the roots. Don’t stress if leaves die, the cold will affect them but we can also grow more! Hope they do well for you this winter 🫢
Wow hope everything goes well for you and those plant πŸͺ΄ babies
I don’t think the temperature needs to determine whether or not you water. Whichever ones are due to be watered today, I would just do it. I would expect them to survive 11 1/2 hours at 56 just fine. I discovered that about my plants this year because the night temps were in the 50s for several nights here before I brought them inside, and all of them had no problems with that. They were stronger than I thought! And there was a variety of kinds out, too.
@Sassylimey Wow snow this early in the season. Is this normal? I mean I like cooler weather but power outages on top of snow not so much! Hang in there! And try and stay warm I wish I could send you some sunshine β˜€οΈ!!
I think they’ll be okay πŸ’š if it makes you feel better I left one plant outside bc the trees blocked it from my view and by the time I realized it had already been out in 34 degrees for a couple days, and the soil was wet. I brought it in the sunroom, repotted & it seems to be doing fine. Plants like to surprise us
@HoyaAddict thank you, I did follow my instinct and left them plants alone yesterday, no heat for 12 hours and then it took a good three hours to warm up my home. My planty babies will get watered today! πŸ₯°
@FitBrowallia @AC73LoveCats @Ms.Persnickety @Propa thank you so much for your advice. I didn't water yesterday, they'll get their drinks todayπŸ˜‰πŸ˜
@Sassylimey Sounds perfect πŸ‘ you have great plant mum instincts I’m sure they’re do great over winter πŸ’•
I think they should be just fine if it was only that long and it only got that cold your babies should be ok
Happily, temperatures are more of a concern when they happen suddenly (like taking a plant from inside a store outside to the car without protection) unless they're*really* cold. Because the temperature went down somewhat gradually, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. πŸ’š
Thank you @Michelle5986 @GardeningJustin. Outages here really concern me, my plants seem to be fine after the outage. They're so much more resilient than we give them credit for πŸ₯°πŸŒ±πŸŒΏπŸ’ͺ
@Sassylimey many plants tolerate temps to 50F or lower. Temps here were at or below freezing for three days in a row. I didn’t cover them or anything. I have watered them normally. The Mandevilla in the pic is Mandy. She’s still doing great in spite of the cold. She is supposed to die below 50F. Today she is still producing buds and flowers. #MandevillaLove
Thank you for the encouragement @CuteChollipo πŸ₯°
@SassyLimey My big tub of Mandevillas are still blooming as the leaves fall around them.
How have your plants fared after the cold shock?
Thank you for asking @CuteChollipo thankfully my plants are thriving. Seems the cold shock didn't harm them.
