Too much humidity?

My lovely brats.. #PinstripePlant #Calathea #RoseCalathea are getting black like crispy edges. It’s not overwatering or dry, I’m thinking I may be humidifying them too much but it’s a theory. My pinstripe, my rose, and my other are just.. ugh and I can’t stand it. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy . #CalatheaFreddie help. And fyi I had to literally make adjustments to placement.. despite being in a ceiling fan and my Calatheas on the floor, Sansi was too much. Im still working on lighting.
Hi, Samantha! I’m not going to lie to you, Calatheas are notoriously finicky plants. One of mine has edges like this, but it’s still extremely healthy. How often are you watering?
@annablu14 Yes, they are my favorite brats thus I keep getting them lol. I just watered pinstripe, just repotted rose, and left Freddie alone. I check my plants every 1-2 days, poking my finger in there. Good note… a bunch of new growth gonna happen with Rose. I was happy to see those little greens shoots.
Hi Samantha!
It sounds like you might be right about the humidity! While Calatheas love humidity, too much can lead to fungal issues and leaf damage.
Here are a few things you can try:
* Reduce humidity: Increase airflow around your plants by using a fan or opening a window.
* Check for pests: Sometimes, pests like spider mites can cause similar damage. Inspect your plants closely.
* Adjust watering: Make sure you're not overwatering. The soil should be moist but not soggy.
If the problem persists, consider repotting your Calatheas in a well-draining potting mix.
Good luck!
