Propagating Fiddle Leaf Fig?

I’m fairly experienced with gardening and most propagation techniques, but less so with houseplants. My #FiddleLeafFig tree is doing fine, just moved outside for the summer, but it had a branch growing off the bottom of its trunk (it looked like the growth you sometimes get off grafted rootstock although this isn’t grafted). I cut that off and out of curiosity, I put it in water. Will it root that way?
(Side note: it’s been in the water for about 2 weeks and I’ve not seen any roots.)

@RedClayHalo hi Kate and welcome to #GregGang

I recently learned that the FLF likes to be in a dark vessel when trying to propagate a cutting. A brown beer bottle will be perfect to use if you have one.
@YammieOf3 Oh, interesting! I’ll have to try that. I’ve got it in a sunny (but not too bright or hot) window, should that work with the darker bottle?
@RedClayHalo yes that would be just fine
Update: I moved my FLF cutting into a brown bottle this morning. When I did I noticed it had FINALLY started rooting in the clear glass I had it in. But maybe now it’ll get a boost. Either way I’m delighted. πŸ€“
