No idea, but please, for the love of bacon, tell me HOW you keep these things alive!! Explain to me like I’m 4, because every single one of these that my daughters and I have brought into our home has carked it. It’s supposed to be an easy to care for plant but in our home…? Not so much. The damned stems practically spring off the main stem if you even just look at the plant funny. I love them, but I’m super tired of killing them and not knowing why! I have one left; used to be bushy, now it’s skeletal. So damned frustrating and sad.
Hi Jenn, sorry that you are having such a problem with your pilea. If it makes you feel better, mine is all by trial and error. I used to water with well water, then I switched to distilled water, and now I save the water from the dehumidifier. I'm pretty sure that it sits in a west facing window, but the window screen is tinted. This was its third window placement. I have only fertilized it once with a 1-1-1. I will say I almost lost the entire plant from mites, which I killed with diluted neem oil and lots of q-tups.
My piles does great! I even β€œsplit” him in that there were two stalks, I separated them, and there is still also a thriving propagate. I’m sure the limit exists but I haven’t found it.
I have the same experience 😊 My pilea grew about 3 times bigger than she was since February when she was gifted to me. I saw really big pileas that start to grow more up than in every direction, but I guess mine didn’t get the memo πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
