Cactus seeds :)
Bought some little cacti seeds. I know these need slightly different conditions from most plants to sprout? How should i go about it? And advice?
And what are the odds of a Gymno or Astro [or even Opuntia]? It just says Assorted Cactus #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #CactusClique #Cactus #Cacti #cacticollect #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #Succulent #SuccerForSucculents #GregGang #Greggers #GreggersSupportingGreggers #Propagation

@Araceae These Assorted Cactus seed packs are the botanical equivalent of a mystery box right ?could be a Gymnocalycium, Astrophytum, Opuntia… or you might just end up with 30 identical Notocactus gremliniensis okay, don’t freak out I made that up hehehe ….. this is How i would Germinate Cactus Seeds Without Losing my Mind cos seriously these are a lot lol jokes apart
1st is Soil Setup Use sterile cactus mix or make your own: 50% perlite + 50% seed-starting mix. You do not want fungus among them. You know this but gonna type it anyways Container
Shallow trays or takeout boxes with a clear lid = homemade greenhouse vibes. Punch a few drainage holes…. Sprinkle seeds like you’re salting fries. Do not bury these babies like light to germinate. Mist it. Cover it. Keep it humid but not soggy. Just till they germinate give them rainforest spa for desert seeds. 70–85°F (21–29°C). Bright indirect light or under a grow light. Avoid sun-baking them like nachos which I did when I grew mine lessons learned the hard way….A nywhere from 5 days to 5 weeks. Some sprout fast, others are on cactus time—like waiting for your crush to text back like seriously it’s forever…. Once they sprout, slowly acclimate them to less humidity. Open the lid a bit more each day like you’re training them for the real world… If you ask me what are your odds…. Honestly? It’s Vegas in a seed pack. The picture on the cover looks like a desert rave Gymnos, Astros, Mammillarias, even some Rebutias. Odds are you’ll get a few cool spiny divas, a couple of lumpy blobs, and one that becomes your favorite child this is purely my guess lol don’t quote me on that 😜 Want to really test fate? Try labeling each seedling like a contestant on a reality show
Spikey Spice
Lil Astro Maybe?
Green Bean #7 (again) Good luck! May your seedlings be weird, wonderful, and slightly dangerous.

@JungleDreamer can i sub coco chunks and regular mix instead of seed starter + perlite? I'm the least prepared Gregger there is lol
@Araceae Honestly? Coco chunks and regular mix are a bit too rough for cactus seeds—they need a fine, airy, and moisture-retaining setup to sprout. Coco chunks are too chunky, and regular mix can be too dense or hold too much moisture = rot city If you absolutely must, sift the regular mix to remove big bits and mix in some sand or crushed perlite for drainage. But if you can grab seed starter + perlite or pumice tomorrow, your cactus babies will thank you later!
@JungleDreamer thank you for the detailed advice. I was considering trying cacti seeds. I’ll have to screenshot it, because I don’t know how to easily go back to previous posts.
“…like seriously it’s forever…”
🤣🤣 It’s funny cuz it’s true! 🤣🤣🤣
