Plant ID?
So I’ve had Lilo for a while but never really tried to figure her species. Greg IDed it as a Chinese Taro but I kept getting Philodendron on Google.

I also need help with lighting 🥲

Originally, I had her in a bright, West sun room and received medium, indirect light and she EXPLODED. Well, I thought maybe she needed more light because she grew a long stem towards the window so I moved her to a foot from a window with shade.

Oh wait, there’s more. After a while, Lilo started developing these tiny white spots. I figured it was maybe sun burn so I moved her again 😂 now she’s sitting under a grow light and I also want to make sure her placement is good! She’s about six inches from the light that’s on 40%.

it is a chinese taro also called an alocasia cucullata. i have all my alocasias under a grow lights, around 40% humidity (i live in the desert and can’t get any higher) and they seem to vibe! i think it probably got sunburn sitting in front of the window but it should be good under the grow light, you could maybe try and turn the grow lights up more too.
@annapop I live in SW-ARK and humidity inside is between 40%-50%. She seems like an easy going plant so far and such a fast grower! I can’t wait till she’s acclimated to her new spot and she starts going crazy with growth 💙
@AwesomePlants what philo is this 👀
I wanna say it’s the philo Shangri La
@jcPlantProper I was waiting on you🤣. I thought the same; it looks like baby shangri la leaves if it's a philo.
@AwesomePlants haha! Yeah seems a little bare but older cause it’s kinda tall. But the older leaves on the bottom definitely seem about right
@jcPlantProper she is quite bare 🥲 I saved her from going in the trash at work so she’s been through the ringer! Mostly inconsistent watering and cold air but still lol.

Hopefully she likes her new spot and we’ll see some leaves take shape 🤩 I’ll keep y’all updated!
Here’s its potential!
@jcPlantProper oh I can’t wait 🤩🤩 I’m sure it won’t be long now, look at all the new buds and growth! 👀
