WTF is eating my mini monstera!?
Iβve been doing pest control and I thought things died down some, but enough to focus on babying this but over two days I saw this! I typically do daily inspections over my coffee but this is crazy! No evidence of pests under damaged leaf, and no others that I can see underneath. Iβm going crazy over these pests and NOW thereβs some critter munching on my leaves!? No other plants near it have bite marks like this #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #PestControl #help #Monstera #MonsteraMob #MiniMonstera #pestID

6ft to light, direct

4β pot with drainage

@MockingJay no sh!t! ππ€£ itβs kept inside so idk what is eating it. But you can be damn shore when I find this critter itβs going to my neps! (Tropical pitcher plants) and none of my other plants right next to it arenβt having any munches taken out of them
@MockingJay guess weβll just add this to my list of Whatβs Making Me Nuts lol
@Petite_Eureka hahaπ
Maybe you can set up a camera? For surveillance?π
With that kind of damage it is most likely an animal. Because that looks like little teeth marks. Do you have any pets? Rarely but it can happen a mouse will snack on plant leaves. It's definitely not unheard of.
That doesn't look like the typical bug patten of munching so I do suspect something bigger π€

@Araceae not that Iβm aware of. I get house pest treatments every few months (kind of like a subscription thing) and Iβve had this one right up against the window pretty close to other plants (within 1 foot) and none of them have bites like this. Iβve looked under the leaves, on top, the soil, and the bottom of the pot. I live in western NC so itβs been frigid for months. We had a warm snap last week but it never got over 70 and always dropped at night. I have screens on the windows too so when I did open windows no critters came in. I have two human creatures but theyβre trained well enough to not munch my plants. (Knock them over every now and then when playing too rough, yes, but they know when they messed up) we have a chug. Chihuahua pug. So ugly heβs cute. My monstera is too tall for him to be chewing on it
I imagine if it was a mouse it won't likely be back because the oxylate crystals in the leaf would cause burning in its mouth and throat along with an upset tummy.
It would likely not kill it, but definitely dissuade it from coming for another snack. Which if it was that, is why the whole plant was not eaten.
So if you don't see any more evidence of munching, it was likely that and won't be back for seconds! πππͺ€
