Any tips on water propagating the ZZ plant?

Hi I did it in water, just straight in a little cup with a little water in the bottom. Probably started with 8 leaves because the oldest stalk was turning yellow. 8 months later and I have 2 little rhizomes left in 1” pots. Lost a lot but in hindsight I’m not sure if they were lost or changing, it was my first time. There is a point where the leaf separates from the new baby rhizome and it’s kinda scary cause it seems gone. But so far it’s still going so I’m going to trust the process.
@Hof ok great - I used a slim glass to help keep the stem upright.
