Am I dying? Should I throw figure away?

Daffodils come up in early Spring and once their flowers are spent go dormant until the next Spring. Cut the foliage back to the soil and either plant them in the ground or leave them in the pot and put the pot in a cool shady place until Spring?
I really donβt know where you might put them to rest and then whatβ¦? Because I always plant them. These are volunteers that somehow travelled from my neighborβs yard to mine. They always show up like a bouquet in the lawn, and then die out by the time we need to mow.
