Whatβs going on with my Easter cactus?
This leaf has four smaller leaves growing on it. Is that a little white root coming off of it and if so can I propagate it? #EasterCactus #HappyPlants #GregGang #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #CactusClique #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Hi Ashley!
Holiday cacti will put out roots at the pads for a lot of different reasons. Sometimes it's to get more water from the air, to climb like they would in their natural habitat, or sometimes in times of stress.
You can use them to propagate but I'd make sure there isn't a stressor first.
While I see the signs of growth it's not growing any new pads yet so it's up to you if you want to snip it and have the energy go to rooting or if you want to leave it and have its energy go to new pads.

π± Whatβs Going On:
β’ The four smaller segments growing from one pad is typical of a vigorous, healthy Easter cactus.
β’ The white strand is an aerial root, which these plants produce naturally when humidity is high or when theyβre preparing to spread and anchor.
βΈ»
β Can You Propagate It?
Absolutely! Hereβs how:
βοΈ Step-by-Step:
1. Cut just below a segment that has aerial roots using clean, sharp scissors.
2. Let the cutting dry for 1β2 days (to callus over).
3. Place it into well-draining cactus/succulent mix, just deep enough to support it upright.
4. Mist lightly or water sparingly until roots develop.
5. Bright indirect light is best during this phase.
βΈ»
πΏ Tip:
β’ Those aerial roots will anchor even faster in slightly humid conditionsβjust avoid soggy soil.
β’ You can even root it in water first if you want to watch the roots develop!

@SvelteShangrila @PlantMompy thank you both so much for your help. I wish I could select both of them as best.
